The Uganda Skateboard Society has been recognizing and rewarding the Best Skater of the Year since 2022. We remain committed to continuing this tradition as part of our efforts to motivate Ugandan skaters and grow the sport across the country. Over the years, we have witnessed remarkable progress from our local talent, and 2024 has been no exception.

JOVIC

Jovic is undoubtedly one of the most technical skaters Uganda has ever seen, known for his impressive bigger flips and flawless fakie gazelles. Despite the challenges of balancing his studies as a Senior 4 candidate this year, Jovic has managed to deliver incredible performances. His remarkable tricks and dedication to the sport earned him a well-deserved nomination for Skater of the Year 2024.

CALVIN

Calvin’s consistency has made him one of Uganda’s fastest-progressing skaters. After winning the Uganda Skater of the Year title in 2023, he continued to push boundaries in 2024 and showcased his best this year, landing tricks like tre flip late flips, kickflip late shuvs, alpha flips, and the smoothest kickflip to backside boardslides, heel flip fs board slide fakie out on the down rail. He also impressed with a fakie bigspin to backside boardslide on the down rail, solidifying his spot as one of the top contenders once again.

BRYAN

Bryan kicked off the year with an invitation to compete in the inaugural Game of the Future (Phygital Skateboarding) in Kazan, where he delivered an outstanding performance. Throughout 2024, Bryan has had an exceptional year, showcasing effortless mastery of tricks on the down rail, including frontside blunts, kick flip fs blunts, kickflip frontside boardslides, frontside smith grinds, tre flip lipslides, and back tails. His skills and consistency have made given him a nomination to this year’s USOTY contest.

MORZAT (MOSES)

Mozart is a versatile skater who excels across park and street skateboarding  earning recognition for his unique style and creative trick combinations. He has left a lasting impression with standout moves like the switch backflip on the steep transition, half cab early grab transfer over the mini mega, nollie lipslides, caballerial kickflips on the big bank, frontside lipslides on the down rail, and a smooth 360 backside air in the transition. His adaptability and innovation make him a true standout in the skateboarding scene this year.

JOSEPH

Joseph has shown incredible dedication this year, stepping out of his comfort zone to explore street skating after being a transition skater for a long time. He amazed the global skateboarding community with his gnarly tuck knee transfer over the mini mega gap, introduced inverts which were rare to find on the skatepark, landed smooth blunts on the big bank, and executed impressive indy airs. His hard work and versatility have made him a standout skater in 2024.
